Associations of fishermen from Primorye and the North join forces with Maksimikha logistics operators to deliver fish
17/09/2021

The Maksimikha Industrial and Food Cluster, the largest food logistics and production cluster in the Moscow Region, the Primorye Fisheries Association and the Union of Fishermen of the North signed Memorandum of Cooperation at the IV Global Fishery Forum and International Exhibition of Fish Industry, Seafood and Technology (Seafood Expo Russia).

“The Maksimikha food cluster will offer its clients an efficient freezing infrastructure with advanced logistics solutions; together with another anchor project of the Maksimikha Special Economic Zone, the Usady Multimodal Centre, it will provide back-loading of refrigerated wagons and containers, and reduce fish product delivery time by one or two days compared to existing logistics chains. All this will ultimately supply residents of Moscow and the Moscow Region with more high-quality and affordable fish and seafood”, said Andrey Filatov, CEO of the Maksimikha Industrial and Food Cluster, commenting on the signing of the Memorandum.

The initial construction phase of the Maksimikha project kicked off in late August. Operations are due to begin in the first quarter of 2023. The food cluster is one of the two anchor projects at the Maksimikha Special Economic Zone (along with the Usady Multimodal Centre). It was established on 27 November 2020 by decree of the Government of the Russian Federation with the support of the Moscow Region Government.

“Fish from the Primorsky Territory arrives in the Moscow Region by rail but there is inadequate freezing capacity near rail terminals. The opportunities offered by the Maksimikha cluster will help solve the key problems of transporting fish products from the Far East to the European part of Russia, their subsequent storage, processing and sale”, said Georgy Martynov, President of the Primorye Fisheries Association.
