Aquaculture at Seafood Expo Russia: New Opportunities to Show Yourself
16/02/2023

Aquaculture is one of the fastest growing and most popular sections of Seafood Expo Russia. The novelty of the last year's exposition was the RAS, assembled from the equipment of the exhibitors presented at the exhibition. This year the organizers decided to surprise the participants with a showcase of live products.

Place and significance of aquaculture at Seafood Expo Russia

Aquaculture is one of the growth drivers of the fishery industry and an important part of Seafood Expo Russia. The exposition, which brings together fish farms, equipment manufacturers, suppliers of planting material, veterinary drugs and feed, grows every year and attracts more and more visitors. In 2022, aquaculture took second place among the interests of all the guests of the event. More than 80 companies from Russia, Armenia, Turkey, Iran, France, Finland and the Netherlands became exhibitors.

Last year, a joint stand of aquaculture equipment manufacturers was organized for the first time as part of the Seafood Expo Russia exhibition. From the components provided by the exhibitors, a RAS with live fish was assembled. This ensured effective participation for smaller equipment and component manufacturing companies. They were able to demonstrate their products in action in an aqua system with live fish. In total, 11 companies took part in the joint stand. In addition to the opportunity to communicate directly with manufacturers, industry professionals had the opportunity to listen to thematic reports on feed, hydrochemistry, fish farming and ichthyopathology.

New opportunities for exhibitors

Since the RAS has aroused considerable interest among exhibitors and visitors, the organizers decided to make it a tradition and a hallmark of the sector. This year, the exhibition will again install a 17 cubic meters pool-based aquatic system for freshwater fish, a small industrial holding for 500-700 kg of seafood, as well as showcases for seafood retail. An aquarium with live crayfish can also complement the exposition. In addition to manufacturers of equipment and fish feed, the project will also be of interest to suppliers of live fish and seafood. This concept allows exhibitors to take part in the exhibition on favorable terms, without spending a lot of time and effort on preparing for the event, because all the technical work will be taken over by the operator of the joint stand.

Feed manufacturers will receive special attention this year. After many foreign producers left the Russian market, aquaculture enterprises were forced to look for new suppliers. Fish farmers began to pay closer attention to domestic companies. The vacated niche was also filled by those feed manufacturers who had not previously worked with products for aquatic biological resources. Some fishing companies also thought about organizing production from fishmeal, which was previously poorly in demand on the Russian market. Reprofiling and organizing new production takes time, so demand remains high. In order to keep the growth of the aquaculture sector, meet the market interest and attract more small feed companies this year, the organizers are giving them an additional opportunity to showcase their products at a minimal investment.

VI Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2023 will take place on October 18-20 in St. Petersburg.
